New ‘TAC’ Program To Help Support DCA Athletes.

The Athletic Booster Club has spent the past few months discussing, planning and drafting guidelines for DCA’s new Team Activities Coordinator program.

Spearheaded by booster club member Venessa Brusseau, the TAC program is designed to broaden the involvement of parents whose children participate in DCA sports and create a more equitable distribution of volunteer support at DCA athletic events.

The head coach of each DCA athletic team will designate a parent to fill the role of Team Activities Coordinator (TAC) for a one-year volunteer appointment. The key role for each TAC is to coordinate and support activities between their athletic team, the Athletic Booster Club and DCA.

Each team’s TAC will provide a variety of support services which may include some or all of the following activities:

  • Attend monthly meetings of the Athletic Booster Club
  • Coordinate their team’s volunteers for concession stand work
  • Assign volunteers to participate in the various sports work days that occur throughout the year
  • Submit team news, athletic honors and digital photos to the Athletic Booster Club board in a timely manner
  • Secure a volunteer to maintain the DCA web page for their sport

Some teams may choose to have more than one TAC volunteer participant, based on the amount of coordination required and the number of active parents involved with that particular team.

A TAC orientation package has been developed that includes guidelines and templates to simplify the process for each volunteer.

In summary, the TAC representatives will enable DCA sports teams to create an ongoing conduit for two-way communication throughout the DCA sports family. And by coordinating participants from every school team, the volunteer workload will be more equitably shared by all DCA sports parents.
