2007 RECAP
The "DREAM COME TRUE"
2007 was the realization of a 5 year goal by senior captain Ashley Birdwell. To get the team to the state championship and win. And win they did! But getting there is also a great story. This years team consisted of Senior Ashley Birdwell, Sophomores Jordan Hollinshead and Alex Renshaw and 8th grader Sarah Harris. The girls went undefeated in regular season play 13-0. They won the District Championship at Riverside Golf Course and 3 days later won their first Regional Championship at Montgomery Bell State Park. Ashley Birdwell capped her career by finishing as both district and regional tournament 2nd medalist while Jordan Hollinshead finished as the 4th medalist and Sarah Harris finished as the 3rd medalist at each. Alex Renshaw was designated as the tournament alternate player. At the state tournament the team fired a two day total of 313 to bring home the first TSSAA A-AA state championship for golf in school history by beating Anderson County by 9 shots. Jordan’s 2 days of exceptional play garnered her 3rd medalist individual honors. Sarah finished 7th and Ashley finished in the 11th spot out of 54 competitors.
