Students may elect to take this course as Dual Enrollment* with Volunteer State Community College, for which they will get 3 hours credit for Composition I, 3 hours credit for Comp II and 3 hours credit for American Literature II. This course will begin with a test/essay over Miller’s The Crucible, Knowles’ A Separate Peace and Williams’ The Glass Menagerie which are to be read over the summer. In the fall, DE students use texts required by Vol State for Comp I & II.
 
*Note: To offer Dual Enrollment credit at least 10-12 students must participate. Most colleges accept this credit, but students/parents should consult the institutions they plan to attend to be sure that the credits will transfer. English III Dual Enrollment is a prerequisite for taking DE as a senior. If interested, see Ms. McCain for application information.

This course is an introduction to preparing and delivering public speeches, including emphasis on informative and persuasive speaking.
 
COM 100 - Fundamentals of Speech Communication (3)
This course is an introduction to the communication process, interpersonal communication, group discussion, and public speaking.
 
THEA 1030 - Introduction to Theatre (3)
This course is an introduction and overview of theatre as an art form; emphasis on understanding the nature of drama and its place in culture along with history and theory of theatre and the production process.
