"Creating A Christian Environment Where All Children Are Successful and Valued"

Mr. Kirk LaVeck
Elementary Principal
Dear Friends,
Welcome to the Elementary School!
Excitement and energy are two terms that describe my anticipation for a great 2006-2007 school year! Donelson Christian Academy has a tradition for excellence. My wife and I are proud to say that our two daughters (one now attending college and the other a junior at DCA) began their academic careers as K4 Wildcats. Whether you have a new or continuing student, DCA plays a vital spiritual and academic role in "our" children's lives. I encourage you to become a supportive member of the DCA family and share in the many blessings that HE gives each day. Together, with a committed group of faculty, staff, parents, grandparents, and others, we have a wonderful opportunity to serve GOD by teaching HIS children. GO WILDCATS!
Sincerely in HIS service

Grading System
Donelson Christian Academy emphasizes learning and the acquisition of skills rather than a particular grade or score. Each nine weeks, grades will be given and a report sent to parents. The school year is divided into four grading periods. Deficiency reports for grades of 77 and below are sent home at the midpoint of each grading period. If parents desire more frequent reports, they should contact the individual teacher. Conduct grades are given in each class: physical education, music, art, exploratory classes, and by the academic subject teachers. Grades will be E=Excellent; S=Satisfactory; N=Needs Improvement; U=Unsatisfactory. Conduct grades are recorded to inform the parent, student, and administration how a student is conducting himself during class and activities.

Grading Scales
Pre School K4-K5 Skills are evaluated and reported to parents each semester.

Homework Policy
Homework is considered an essential part of the educational process. In addition to providing reinforcement, homework also provides the opportunity to instill in students a sense of responsibility.
-Students are expected to complete homework and bring it to school on time.
-Homework on Wednesdays is limited or given in advance so as not to interfere with church commitments.
-Students who are absent are responsible for all assignments during their absence.
-For more information, contact the Elementary Office.

Summer Reading Program
Summer reading requirements are given to each student at the end of the school year. It will specifically state the requirements to complete during the summer. The students bring the completed activities with them when school begins to give to their new teacher
