The seventy-eight members of the Class of 2008 were offered $3,611,380 in scholarships from over fifty colleges, universities and community organizations, including Nashville Athena Awards’ top student scholarship and the $100,000 Martin Luther King award. Their average ACT score was 24.4, with the top 25% averaging 28.4, and they currently attend some of the nation’s finest colleges, including New York University, Vanderbilt University and Hendrix College.
2008 AP Results:
36 out of 55 students taking AP courses scored 3 or higher, which is the standard for colleges to grant credit for that course. AP English had 100% of its students scoring at or above that mark. DCA Offers six AP courses: Biology, Calculus AB, Chemistry, English Lit. European History, and US History.
Dual Enrollment Courses:
DCA offers seven dual enrollment courses in which students can earn both college hours and high school credit in the same course. The current Dual Enrollment classes offered are: Biology II Honors (4 hours college credit), Computer Honors (3 hours), English III Honors and IV Honors (total of 12 hours of college credit), Public Speaking Honors (3 hours), Statistics Honors (3 hours), and US History Honors (total of 6 college hours). Many DCA students enter college half-way through their sophomore year due to these courses!
Honors Courses:
Other honors courses at DCA are Algebra II, Anatomy, Biology I, Chemistry, English I and II, French III/IV, Geometry, Latin III/IV, Physics, PreCalculus, Spanish III/IV, and World History.
