The DCA Choral Department is proud to announce Middle School Choir honors

These 7th and 8th grade students auditioned and made the Middle School Honors Choir which is sponsored by the Middle Tennessee Vocal Association. Students from across middle Tennessee auditioned for this choir through a taped audition. Almost 900 students auditioned and only 130 were chosen. Six students from DCA were selected for this honor. They are: Connor Weaver, Kirstie White, Matt Ziemba, Abby McCormick, Matthew Mathis and Donnely Lewis.
Congratulations Mrs. Cook and students for this outstanding honor!
Welcome Donelson Christian Academy’s New MS & HS Principal
Keith Singer and family
Next year, Donelson Christian Academy will celebrate 40 years as Nashville’s premier interdenominational college preparatory Christian academy. God has truly blessed DCA and the next 40 years looks extremely bright. A great example of this was just realized through a national search to find DCA’s new middle school and high school principal to replace Ken Willey, who retires at the end of the 2009-10 school year.
With thanksgiving, it is my privilege to proudly announce the appointment of Mr. Keith M. Singer as Donelson Christian Academy’s new middle school / high school principal. Keith Singer will join the DCA faculty this July. Keith comes to DCA from the very well respected Stony Brook School founded in 1922 in Long Island, New York. Keith has served Stony Brook for 21 years as a math teacher, coach, principal, and for the past eight years as the assistant headmaster. Mr. Singer will make the move with his wife Karen, sons Mitchell, Jacob, Benjamin, and daughter Sadie. The older of the two will be attending college in the fall and the younger two will be students at DCA.
Mr. Singer received his Bachelor of Science degree from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, and his Master of Science degree from Long Island University in Brookville, New York.
The following excerpt is from Mr. Singer’s philosophy of education.
“In a Christian school, it is also our task to challenge students. I firmly believe that challenge is best issued through relationships. Students will go to great lengths to reach a bar placed there by a mentor they truly believe cares about them and has their best interest in mind. The opportunities to help students discover God-given talents and gifts in a relatively small setting are numerous. A platform is developed through relationships that are built in the context of a variety of shared experiences. Teachers can encourage, pray, and interact with students in ways that will help students begin to understand their unique value in the eyes of a loving God. In a Christian school, teachers who love students and passionately care about their subject have an opportunity to model a life that is grounded in Scripture and empowered by the Holy Spirit. They also have the opportunity to demonstrate excellence in a manner that brings glory to God.”
Please pray for the Keith Singer family and for DCA as we transition into these exciting days ahead. I also want to thank Ken Willey who is retiring after eight years of service at DCA and 39 years in education. Mr. Willey has served our academy well and I am so pleased that a person of Keith Singer’s experience will assume Principal Willey’s responsibilities. God continues to bless Donelson Christian Academy.
Sincerely,
Danny Kellum
Headmaster
